Disaster Support

Long-Term Recovery Group

A Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is a community coalition created to help individuals and families recover after a disaster when their needs exceed available resources. Its core mission is to bring together nonprofits, faith-based groups, government agencies, businesses, and community partners to coordinate recovery efforts so survivors receive equitable, efficient, and holistic support.

The purpose of an LTRG is to maximize community resources, reduce duplication of services, and ensure long-term needs—such as housing repairs, rebuilding, financial assistance, and emotional or spiritual care—are addressed in a coordinated way. By uniting partners under National VOAD’s principles of Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration, the LTRG strengthens the community’s ability to respond, rebuild, and become more resilient.

An LTRG continues working long after initial emergency response has ended, focusing on helping survivors return to safe, stable, and sustainable living conditions while fostering community-wide recovery and preparedness for future disasters.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Flagler County Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD) is to drive coordinated, community-wide action that strengthens disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. We unite local organizations to enhance collaboration, optimize resource sharing, and streamline access to vital services. Through collective knowledge and problem-solving, we are committed to ensuring a faster, more effective recovery for residents impacted by disasters, while building a more resilient and unified Flagler County.
